Super Me
Any normal person would be embarrassed to use themselves as a model to make a bigger than life sized painting like this one. Any normal wife would be embarrassed if her husband made this painting, made it look like himself, and then, just to make sure no one missed the likeness, titled it "Super Me". Sometimes you just have to confront stuff head on. My husband, Brandon, made this painting and then put it in an art show where hundreds of people saw it, and also used the image on his most recent blog post! It's also on his website! There. I owned it. It feels good to let that out.

I'm sure you are supposed to feel embarrassed. I think that is what he intended.
Why?
Bare his human frailty?
Compare his expectations to his reality? His goals to his flaws?
I think he would say yes to all those things. This painting is part of his "Hinkle" series - all paintings with figures, paintings in which some have big, bare chested men with costumes. None of the men have traditional super hero physiques; most are fat.
And you know, Brandon was a comic book fan as a kid. This makes me think that the paintings are about a persons expectations - especially childhood expectations in relationship to reality as an adult. I think you are right about the human frailty and flaws too. You can see the rest of the series at http://brandoncsmith.com/Gallery.asp?GalleryID=127118&AKey=JACH6T2J, if you want to look a the rest of them.
His web address doesn't show as a hyperlink.
Just dont let him make any paintings like that of us!
